OUR STORY
The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton is a community-focused boutique cinema. From the founder and executive team behind the highly successful and award-winning The Living Room Cinema in Liphook, The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton is a friendly and welcoming home from home for the local community in the heart of the Cotswolds.
The Living Room Cinema began its story in 2017 when Founder and CEO, Claire Beswick, decided to fulfil a lifelong ambition of opening her own cinema in her hometown of Liphook, Hampshire. A cinema industry veteran with 20 years’ experience, Claire instinctively believed that small towns with no full-time local cinema offering would see a cinema as an asset which would play a cornerstone role in their community and play a part in regenerating the high street.
The team (consisting of Claire, Chairman Sir Rupert Gavin and co-director, award winning film producer Nicole Carmen-Davis) opened Liphook in April 2022, but by this time work was already well underway on repurposing the shopfront of the much-loved historic ‘Harpers’ building on Chipping Norton High Street and transforming it into a destination venue that transcends a chain cinema experience. Harpers had been a cornerstone of the Chipping Norton High Street for over four decades but had been empty for several years.
The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton opened its doors on 14th July 2023, with a charity screening of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning in support of our charity partner, Thrive North Ox. In the first six months of operation, we have welcomed over 20,000 guests and played over 85 titles.

Our regulars visit us every day; we know what they are drinking and what they are watching. We have hosted private events, welcomed special film maker guests for Q&As, and curated special events such as our popular Cheltenham Races Preview. We look forward to expanding on our events programme throughout the remainder of our first year.
We are proud to support the local economy, whether through stocking local produce (many of our products coming from a walking distance from the cinema), through our charity endeavours or providing local employment in a team that feels like a family.
